Peruse a little around the web looking for the most idyllic Greek islands to say I do and you’ll definitely bump into the lush Ionian archipelago, where emerald waters and culinary adventures are a given. Alight gently across your cruising map until you discover a green speck just off the southern tip of Corfu, and you’ll discover the paradise where our couple Olya & Gavin selected for their destination wedding. It’s none other than Paxos Island (or Paxoi)!
These two lovers didn’t have to read infuential Conde Nast’s list of the most delectable Greek islands however, because they’ve always had such a strong connection to Paxos and consider it their second home. Pretty good reason to want to get wed there right?
After a very serendipitous meeting in 2019, it was perfectly clear that there would be no other place in the entire world they’d rather tie the knot. We paid several visits to the island. Since they had already decided on their reception venue, the incredible Erimitis Restaurant , whose views over the entire coast are nothing short of jaw-dropping, we only had to explore for the ceremony location. And lo! There it was… the most beautiful and romantic spot, an olive grove dangling above the sea, photogenic and so Grecian at the same time.
What a dream! The big day began on a private villa in Mongonissi bay, the gorgeous views of Antipaxos in its cachet. Following the supra-romantic minimony and while the couple enjoyed some alone time with their photographer, guests headed to Erimitis to indulge in local-flavored cocktails and amuse-bouche under the sweet sunset. Soon the newlyweds return to cut their cake and the party took off in the sounds of elegant Greek music which lasted till the wee hours!
