2020 CORFU RIVIERA DESTINATION MICROWEDDING

Ah, quizzical 2020 may be the year with so many changes in every wedding couple’s plans, but it can also be officially dubbed the year microweddings rolled back in fashion, especially for the brides and grooms who braved the circumstances and made their dreams possible. Today’s Corfu destination microwedding in peachy pastels was inspired by BBC’s TV hit The Durrells and its location, the magical Corfu Riviera made these micro-vows a total dream!

THE JOURNEY TO CORFU

Kelly and Rob have been Corfu lovers way before they decided to exchange their Ionian island vows. Having visited so many times they were already familiar with all the scenic routes, the gorgeous nooks, and the visual treasures these parts are packed with, so they knew exactly what to ask for their big day. Yes, the COVID stipulations forced the beautiful couple from UK to downsize their guest list, but it didn’t stop them from making their special day a momentous one. We got working on every fold and seam to ensure the couple and their guests would enjoy a true Corfu wedding experience, laced with beauty, tremendous fun, and a slew of activities for everyone.

PREPARATIONS & CEREMONY

The big day began with Kelly and Rob’s preps and portraits, beautifully ensconced at the elegant PLACE amidst period furnishings and vintage curios before the couple headed at the picturesque stone-built chapel of Panayia in Kassiopi, a perfectly peaceful fishing village on the Northern side of Corfu. The Venetian restored church decorated with 11th and 16th-century frescoes was delicately decorated in pampas grass, blush and peach garden roses, spray roses, Lunaria, and dried Italian ruscus. After the romantic ceremony, a street dancing circle according to the ancient customs of Corfu with the bride leading the dance began at the village square with even villagers taking part!

CRUISING TO THE VENUE

They say it’s not a destination wedding in Greece unless you get to board a sea-vessel to at least one of your big-day events, and they’re absolutely true! Kelly and Rob organized a transfer to their venue onboard a wooden sailboat where they and their guests got the chance to unwind, breathe some refreshing saltiness, and marvel at the views across the enchanting vistas of Corfu Riviera. Beers and aperitivo were served to fuel up “spirits” and soon the stunning dock of The White House Corfu sparkled under the sun before them.

WEDDING RECEPTION AT THE WHITE HOUSE CORFU

Now you probably caught several sitings of The White House Corfu on TV and if you’re a fan of the Durrells series, you will instantly recognize this oh-so-special backdrop. The White House at Kalami Bay, best known as the former residence of British author, Lawrence Durrell, who lived here in the 1930s with his wife, Nancy and featured on BBC’s “My Family and Other Animals is a white-washed family-style taverna laced with history and stories of family and love. Setting Rob and Kelly’s reception in painterly soft maroons, powder pinks, olive green notes, and plume quality grass, our elegant palette, and the scheme was in perfect tune with the romantic nods of the couple’s venue.

THE PARTY

The celebration began with cocktails on the bay, overlooking the sparkling waters and rock formations, while right before dinner each guest received a token of the couple’s appreciation in local artisan gifts and favors. To help their guests find their seats the bride and groom created a personal photograph board and before we knew it one of this summer’s spunkiest parties was setting the night on fire. If you’re looking for truly warm and welcoming reception in Corfu, you do need to give these images a look!
